Silver Lining Photo – Ron Holle

When my wife and I wanted to capture photographically the concept of Silver Lining Consulting we searched for the perfect image.  We had heard all our lives that “every cloud has a silver lining,”  was it John Milton?

After an extensive search, I found the perfect image that you see on my blog, photographed in 1973 in the Florida Everglades by Ronald L. Holle. Ron’s websites can be found here and here.

The appropriate copyright is June 30, 1973, 1800 EDT, Central Site, Florida Everglades, © Ron Holle.  They are actually called Crepuscular Rays.  These rays are rays of sunlight that appear to radiate from a single point in the sky.  They stream through gaps in clouds or between other objects, are columns of sunlit air separated by darker cloud-shadowed regions.  The name comes from their frequent occurrences during crepuscular hours (those around dawn and dusk), when the contrasts between light and dark are the most obvious.  They do have other names – sunbeams, sunburst, sun drawing water, ropes of Maui, Jacob’s Ladder, Gateways to Heaven, Stairways to Heaven, God Rays, Fingers of God (or God’s Fingers) – Wikipedia

Personally, I have always been in awe of these rays and would always take pause when I saw them radiating in the sky.  I thank Ron for capturing this stunning image and for staying my friend for these many years.
